Default Raspy w/ X-PIPE

I am looking at getting long tubes and off-road x pipe from BBK this friday. I have heard some guys complain about the raspy sound that the x-pipe creates at higher RPM's. It seems that most of thesse guys have the SLP mufflers though. Does anyone have this problem? I have a flowmaster catback right now, and I am wondering, with the longtubes and offroad x will it sound raspy, because I do have chambered mufflers not straight thru like SLP. Does anyone think I should go with an H-pipe maybe. ANyone with headers and x-pipe let me know what you think.

Hey Twig, I just saw that. I had the same problem when I had straightpipes on my old v6 stang. It sounds horrible. I think I am going to get an h-pipe. Thanks for the video clip, I am glad I didn't order the header yet.

OK, I just did some research and I found a good price on a set of MAC headers with offroad H-pipe. What do you guys think about the MAC headers. Anyone had good or bad experiences with them?

After a long time of debating whether or not to get SLP or Flowmaster I went with flows and added them to my exhaust that already had the o/r x-pipe. The only time I have any raspiness or rattling like the video had is when the car is cold and I accelerate under normal to medium throttle. It happens around 2700-3100 rpm and then quits. After the car warms up its not there at all.

I have Mac headers and I'm happy with them. I used to have a full Mac system though with Headers, Pro-chamber, and cat-back. I did not like it but many people seem to. I did not like the insane loudness of the Mac cat-bak. I do though now have Mac LT's, Catted-H, and a Steeda Cat-back and Like my set up alot. Kinda funny cuz when I had the Pro-chamber and Cat-back I did not have the aftercooler with my S/C and my car made like 345 HP. I changed the Cat-back and added a Catted-H and the aftercooler and my car made 406HP. I was a little worried that the catted-H might rob some valuable HP but now I'm happy I have them. I dosen't seem as if they caused any loss in power. I got the Mac headers originally because they were a good price. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them but if I were you I would consider the catted-H as opposed to the off road. Works well for me. Also I do like the way X-pipes sound on some cars but it's just not my style.
