I have heard from alot of people that if the Check Engine light is on the car is running in "limp" mode and the horsepower is cut due to a new fuel map...is this true?
I have a mustang shop I go to that just opened.. The guy who ownes it worked as a Ford tech for 20 years and now tunes Mustangs.. I asked him this very question and he said that my CEL that is tripping because of my rear 02s (o/r X) will 'NOT' cause your car to produce less HP.. He went into some major technical jibberish that I didn't under stand.. What I could understand is there are lots of reasons for your CEL to change the air/fuel mixture and to cut power to keep from hurting the motor.. But, the 02 CEL is not one of them..
I belive this guy cuz he REALLY knows his stuff.. I've been to his shop several times and hes got nothing but badass mustangs hes tuning and building for very welthy customers..
