04 gt
hey guys whats going on. I am not a mustang hater or anything like that i have respect for everyone. My buddy has a 04 GT and wants to do some mods to it.So i told him i would come check some stuff out for him. I know the basic,headers,superchips/hypertech,CAI,Exhaust. I told him to start out with that stuff untill his warrenty is up. I just got him to put 40's(flowmaster) on it. How will this sound with an X-pipeand headers and where are the best cheapest Ceramic coated ones?with deleting the cats? Also a question for me do the mustangs have 2 cams?If so do u guys have a hell of a time tuning them in after the install cause i know when i put the cam in my(hemi)i hade a hell of a time tuning it in but now it is fine.. thanks guys

If you're going to do headers and an X pipe you shouldnt bottleneck it by welding mufflers into the stock piping. You can get a flowmaster catback with 40 series mufflers in it, that's what I have. Personally I would skip the cams and small stuff and go strait for a supercharger. Once I get my wheels/tires I am going to be saving up fo my supercharger. Might do gears before the S/C, not sure yet.
Gears are a good thing to look into. 3.73s or 4.10s are the most popular, depends on what you plan for future mods. If you get a roots/twin screw S/C go with 3.73, if you go with all motor or a centrifugal type s/c go with 4.10s. To accompany the gears you may want to look into a tuner such as the SCT X-Cal2

The GT's (Mustangs, of course) have single overhead cams, so two cams need to be replaced. The up-side, is that the replacement of them is a bit simpler.
If your friend wants serious power, for now, skip the bolt-ons... Code3GT on this forum has a very nice N/A 4.6 SOHC, he's done about everything possible to stay N/A and he's at 330ish? RWHP... Which is considerable, yes, but you can make the same power with $800 for nitrous, or $5000 for a blower... the route code has gone is definitely not the cheapest but it's something to respect regardless.
Full exhaust (LT headers, mid pipe, and catback) is a good spot to start, gears are really nice too... but if your friend wants serious power, get a blower or nitrous... he'll have his factory short block maxed out with either of those... so the next step will be a built short block... but he can be at around 400 RWHP like that.

RE: 04 gt
well I myself have an 04 GT like to other guy said go with the flowmaster system i have it also and it sounds good and i still have cats on. If you want to keep your warranty don't go with the supercharger unless you get the ford racing and ford to install it otherwise I think that will void your warranty but not 100% possitive. I would go with your plan the headers and everything to improve air flow because your going to need that in the end anyways.

RE: 04 gt
Cool i will have to let him know. I would just tell him to get a CAI complete exhaust. he likes it loud so i would say dump the cats i have heard mustangs without them and it sounds nice!! I belive when he got it last year he bought a warrenty till 2010. So there won't be any major mods for him for awhile.
WIth the cams how hard are those to install on a overhead cam motor? I did mine it took me about 8 hours to get everything in timed/TDC, and put back on i would think it would be easier with something like that(04 gt).
