I have a 2003 Mustang, when you fill the gas tank it will not show completely full on the guage. Within 50 miles it is at 1/2 tank, at empty it still has about 3 gallons in the tank. Any suggestions on what this might be?

 

wow thats wierd, i just made a post about that a second ago.. i also have a 2003 gt and my gas gauge shows me that i have a little under 3/4 of a tank and i have only gone 45 miles in the city shifting under 2k rpms, mabye getting on it up past 3k once

 

I am baffled, I am probably going to have to take it in and have it checked out. I just bought this car for my wife at the local sheriff's department narcotics auction, hope there is not any drugs in the tank, ha ha. Probably a sensor that has gone out. I am fixing to find out if there are any recall notices for this problem. Will post any if there is.

 

man back when I firsyt bought the car. My gas gauge was acting weird as well. like I would fill up and the gauge wouldn't move for like 2 days. The other days I would put in like 20 bucks worth and it would come up full(it cost about 40 to fill my car). Lately however it seems to have straighten it self out.
