Default clutch problems

i own a 99 gt anv. edition with a ton of mods (no SC or nitous) and when i bouhgt the car about 3 months ago the previous ownr said the king cobra clutch was brand new. i have owned mustangs before but this clutch felt high to me but he insisted it was new and that is the way they are. anyway, the clutch i think is shot. it will only engage when about 75% off the floor and if you try to get on the gas and attempt a clean shift into 2nd gear without grinding...forget about it. my car has a ton of power an i cant get it to the rear wheels. some people say all i need is an adjustment...what adjustment??? some people say i need a new clutch. does anyone have any feedback for me? thanks.

Well, you can try to pull up on the clutch pedal with the top of your foot. It should move about a 1/2" and "click". That's about all the adjustment you can do without an aftermarket adjuster. Try the pedal adjustment step I just decribed and see if it's better.
