RE: Will removing the air silencer = more MPG?
I removed mine and installed a K&N filter. Didn't really notice a difference in MPG at all, but it is slightly louder when I drive up inclines. Barely noticeable. Go ahead and remove it. It won't harm anything.

And about to instal a K & N air intake System on sunday!
I keep hearing to get rid of my air silencer!
Thinking of adding headers too but do want to lose and MPG thou!
Not in it to race my car; Just love them!

You need to do more than remove the dam silencer to achieve power my man.
Spend a little dough on some bolt-on products, then you can begin to enjoy a little
more power. Not a whole lot, though you need a s/c to get real power accomplished

You can also remove the screen in front of the MAF.This will lean out the mixture a little and give you about a 1 mpg increase. The full Bassani exhaust W/Cats didn't change my mpg's at all.The single biggest mpg gain came from a Steeda timing adjuster,I gained about 2 mpg with the timing set at +3*.
