does anyone know how to do this, and is it worth it?

WHat do you mean how to do this? The stock one comes with a screen right in front of the MAF. I guess it is just supposed to block anything the air filter missed from getting in and maybe straighten out the air a bit so the MAF can rea it easier(?). When I got my JLT RAI they said to take it off. I took mine off and have had no problems. Some people say they have had problems with the fenderwell CAI's and taking off the screen. I would take it off and see what happens. If you get a code then put it back on.

U could take it to your local parts store, most of them have a code reader that can reset any codes. I don;t think you should have a problem though.

It smooths out the airflow to give the MAF a good reading. I wouldn't take it out if I were you. My car always ran better with it on.
