Yeah thats it lets get gears to throw 1st in the garbage and start in 2nd. I always wanted to have a four speed. Your a dousch. You don't think that running your car at a higher rpm all the time will reduce your engine life??? I think so. And as far as stock 3:55's the tranny tail has diff gears sometimes, and 4:10 IS a big jump from 3:55's. Very noticable and uncomfortable rpm jump. So no you can tell Acer to go scratch, because I have no idea what you think your talking about

Your a dousch.

Ah, now I remember why I stopped posting in this forum. Of all the Mustang Forums I participate in, this forum is plagued with the most unknowledgeable, immature, and childish members I have ever seen. There are exceptions, such as JDaniel, Dan04Cobra, Acer, etc... But for the most part, well...look at 40% of the topics on the 4.6 section. It's rather sad that most people have proclaimed themselves "experts" when they have very little experience firsthand.

Let's try and maintain just a little bit of self-control here, shall we?

Quick, stick around, I'll handle Targa.

A) Please refrain fom name calling or it will be your last post here.
B) I know LOTS of people with 5-speeds with 4.10's, all of them are capable of using first gear. If you're too inept to do so, I feel sorry for you, but there's no reason to assume others cannot.
C) In town with 4.30's I was able to run under 2k rpms constantly
D) 40 miles is nothing and even with the 4.30's 80mph was only 2500rpms or so. With a 3650 and 4.10's, you should be 2400 or so, not bad at all.
E) On my 1,200 mile trip with an H pipe and SLP LM1's, I got 18mpg in an auto with a PI swap... IF and I mean IF you lose gas ileage on the highway it'll be 1-2mpg tops...you won't notice it. Why not change your fuel filter or air filter to make up for it?

How about we answer the first guys question and stop bashing the retarded know nothing noob who does not even own the type of car in question?

I have a 97 cobra, basicaly the same motor as yours just different setup on the heads. The way our cars make torque at low RPMS is by shutting of one intake valve per cylander until 3250rpm. When you hit 3250rpm it opens.. its basicaly like a butterfly valve... like I said they do that for torque purposes.. however, your torque curve, much like mine, is funky as all hell. Its almost a flat line till nearly 4k.. then it curves up in a hurry.. but try to launch at 4 grand with out slicks and an upgrded clutch/flywheel and some suspension work and see how that goes.

N/A Cobras NEED STEEPER GEARS to make up for the disadvantage of low end torque. There is no question there. Its a fact. Why are the Mach's quicker with the same motor setup? 3.55's is the main reason. Gears make a much larger difference on our cars then on 2v or 5.0 stangs. I went 4.10's and I have the older tranny (t-45). I run 3k at 80mph. With the newer tranny which you should have in the 01, you will be even lower then that. My times suck *** (2.4 60') due to track/street tires/no suspension work with the gears... I just could not hook to save my life. Since the last time I went to the track I changed my clutch and I should have my dr's on this week.. will make a world of difference... hopeing to cut off .4 on my 60' and hopefully pull mid 13's in the next week or 2 when I make it back to the strip.

Also.. in regards to not being able to use first gear.. Cobra's redline at 6800 RPM's... You would have to have some VERY steep gears to not be able to use first in these cars.

One more thing.. if your knowledge is based on the T5 fox body's, then STFU and stop giving bad info in the 4.6 section. I had 3.73's in my fox and it was very similar to having 4.10s in my car. Lower redline, steeper gearing in the transmission, and the same solid rear setup with even older more worn out suspension parts makes that argument null. 3.73's in a fox are about the equivilent of 4.10's in a t-45 sn or new edge, and about like a 4.30's in the 3650 new edge's due to the gearing of the transmission.

Hav

Do you know what gears a '98 SVT Cobra came with? I just bought it Friday. It has the T56 six speed swap and Nitto NT555R D/R's.

Just wondering............................
