RE: 4v vs. 2v whats the difference
I believe the new edge Mach1's are a quite bit faster than the 99/01 cobras am I right? and it doesn't have that IRS you have to worry about.
edit: eh, i guess someone already mentioned it but o well

If I were you, I would go for the Mach. That is if you are concerned w/ performance. If you just want a nice car, go w/ a GT. The Mach will respond to mods much better and starts off with a more powerful engine. To get there w/ a GT, you would spend similar amounts than to just buy the Mach in the first place.
There is a downside however. The insurance will be higher as it is a limited production car. It will however hold its value better for the same reason.
That is what a Mach is for the most part.

A mach 1 is a limited edition production car. She has a alum block/head 32V DOHC 4.6L N/A Motor. Ford rated the Mach 1 at 305 bhp, but this is horribly underrated. Another advantage, is the DOHC responds to mods MUCH more efficiently, The same mods on a 2V can't possibly compare to the mods on a 4V. The Mach also has the retro interior (and an optional 18G int. upgrade package), Bullitt style C-pillers, Factory Chinstrap, and of course, the best part.... The Shaker.
So Ultimately, We all know cars depreciate in value. But keep in mind, they made somewhere near 100,000 GT's over 2 years (maybe I'm underestimating?) And only made some where around 18,000 Mach 1's in 03-04. :P
Get the Mach, you wont regret it :-p

The Machs also came with 3.55 gears while the same year GTs come with 3.27:1
IMO there is no comparison between the mach and the GT. The Mach is actually a super value when you consider the handling options, forged crank and high flowing 4 valve heads and 50 or so extra HP (flywheel). There is no way a GT will ever touch a Mach. You would have to be highly modded just to hang with one. With the exception of the IRS, they are basically a 99/01 Cobra.
The 2 valve engine has an inability to breathe at high RPM. They flatline at about 5500 RPM while the 4 valve keeps pulling right up to, and even past redline.
