mine goes all the way to the top too. on mine they sanded the dots with sandpaper and then injected some sort of dye under the tint. its been on there for 2 years with no problems and still looks black.

I have 5% on the back. They need to put a strip of black vinyl (like a graphic) where the dots are. Then come back with the tint. This is the way it is on my car and it looks good. BTW dont use your rear window defroster, it causes the tint to wrinkle up.
Hahaha. That is very incorrect like Dan said.

As for the dot matrix, mine is tinted and it doesnt look bad at all.

Mine looks like this too, I'll get a picture of it tomorrow... From the outside (because my tint is silverish) it looks bad at the top, but only if you really look at it. The stuff does seem to be pretty high quality... The last owner had the tint put on. I'd replace it but I like it quite a bit, it's slightly reflective from the outside, and is barely darkened (bought it in FL). I'd like it darker but I don't have much of a choice.

well ill definately go talk to another tint place and see about the vinyl or getting the dots sanded. my car needs it pretty bad. it just looks like it's missing something without it. how many people with 5% all the way around have gotten in trouble for it. i dont know about otehr states but im from texas and here the front side windows are suppose to be 35%, but i was hoping to maybe go 5% on the back and smaller back side windows and if not 5% on the front sides maybe 20% on the sides. not sure how much trouble ill get into or how fast ill get it in tho.

The tint place has a big vinal sticker that they cut out and it covers all the dots.

First i got the rear window tinted up to the bottom of the dots.

Second I let the tint dry and let all of the air bubbles escape.

Thirdly after tint is dry I had the vinal put over the dots and about a half inch over the tint so there is a nice transition

i think it is hit or miss whether the tint sticks well or not....if you dont use an adhesive promoter type thing.....i wanted to just do a vinyl strip but decided i could live with it....whenever i have time i'm going to go over it with a blow dryer on a low cool setting to see if i can coax it to stick more...same with my windshield banner where the pony is above my rearview....they both look like crap.....fortunately for me they stop sticking at about the same point all the way across so i dont have random sticky spots and randrom raised spots like some cars
