Default Mustang in autocross

Is it feasable to run an automatic trans GT in autocross, or is the car a complete failure at life.

I have autocrossed a '78 malibu wagon with an auto (hey! when you gotta race!) I just forced it to second and kept it there.

There is fun to be had with an auto. With my GT and the manaul transmission I usually shift to 2nd asap and keep it there.

When you have torque you dont need to shift in autocross.

If you want to get serious about autocrossing i would recommend you get a SCCA hand book. I dont know what you have done but if all you have done is in your sig you would be in a stock class. There are only a limited amount of things that you can do before you start moving up in the classes. I think you can do cat-back, intake, shocks but not springs and different wheel/tire combo. Dont quote me, but if your serious read the book. Ive never been auto-xing in the mustang but would like to get there this summer.

True in stock form, not so true with a few after market parts and some sticky tires. I Finally feel my vert is a decent autocrosser after a couple grand in suspension parts.

you just need to sport shift and get some springs, SFCs and a strut tower brace along with a few other things

I thought the irs from the cobra was no good because its too heavy? A lot of the local guys with solid axles always get panhard bars or a torque arm...
