Does anyone know if running open headers will hurt your motor? I probably will do it for only a couple of days.

No.. It does not hurt your engine.. I know of a lot of people that switch to open headers before they run the 1/4.. But.. I don't recomeend keeping them open very long.. 1. You'll get pulled over.. 2. You'll get a ticket 3. You'll be ****ing poor.

 

yup yup. Sounds like *** unless you have a nice built up motor. But, even then, mufflers sound better IMO. Do what you wish though. You do know that you will probably loose power right?

You basically loose all your back pressure, therefore loosing torque. I am not sure because I too am still a noob.lol. I've never seen any 1 drive a street stang with open headers.

 

One reason nobody runs Open headers on the street is that it is illegal.. .. Also.. Running open headers you 'should' gain HP and TQ.. I know that is the way in some of the old small blocks we have sitting around the house.. But those are older vehicles.. I don't see why it wouldn't be the same.

 

my freind has headers to hp no cats no muffs, just dumped h-pipe, its way too loud and with his 4:10 gears he is going like 5 mph and it sounds like he is racing somebody... and it sounds bad... but you can hear him comin...

 

gas milage will suck also
