Computer codes?
Hey everyone, as you can see Im a newbie on here. My mustang is having a slight idle problem. When I reach a stop the cars idle goes from 800rpm down to 600rpm and then goes back to 800rpm where it stays. I know there is a certain sensor somewhere on here that needs replacement. Is there any way to check computer codes on these cars through the ignition for example On/Off/On/Off or does that not even exist? PLEASE HELP THIS NEWBIE OUT

RE: Computer codes?
It sounds like your fuel filter, not an engine code.
And no you need an OBD-II scanner. Auto parts store for $40...model specific
$149 for universal for any car
IT IS NOT YOUR AIC VALVE.....DON'T LISTEN TO THES IDIOTS.

RE: Computer codes?
Dude you are such a tool....
It is a known fact the the IAC causes a MOST of a mustangs idle issue.
It is an easy thing to pull off and clean up to see if it resolves the problem. It is always a good idea to replace the fuel filter after 30k.
But the fuel filter HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SYMPTONS THE CAR HAS! If he came on and said the car is sluggish under acceleration, feels like it has a miss etc. Then it could possibly be a filter. IAC is usually the culprit fow what he is describing. Pull it clean it up and see if that resolves the problem.
It would also help to know what year the car is (it may not be OBD-2 Mr Brain......) auto or stick, when it does this do you have any of the HVAC controls on? If so what position?
The AC compressor when it kicks over can put a strain on the motor and will be more noticable in an Auto.

RE: Computer codes?
your having an idle problem cuz of the fuel filter ROFL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats funny
but ya. like silver said HVAC and also the cooling fan like i said draw energy from the engy which causes the engine to go down a little bit then go back up. You can clean your IAC but i bet it will keep doing it because its normal...
