Default Stock CD Player = Bad

Is it just me or do the CD players in the SN95's and New Edge seem bad to you? I've had 5 Stangs and 3 of them were bad or went bad. Am I the only one that has experienced this? I have tried many times to install an aftermarket CD player in mustangs and its almost impossible. I mean I have installed hundreds in many other vehicles. How do you do it for the mustangs? Is their an article?

yeah those cd players do suck. mine crapped out and the ones I bought on ebay to replace it crapped out..... the ones I got on ebay were already crapped out before I got them. At least I got my money back from the seller and kept his stuff..hehe. Anywayz I installed a cd player in my stang with no trouble just went out and bought a wire harness at walmart, and just plugged it all together in a bout 30 minutes. Its been nearly a year later with no problems...except nowdays I am ready for an in dash dvd.

Mine still works fine in my 2000 GT. The speakers need to be replaced, but everything works.

Sometimes mine messes up. I fearful about putting a cd in it. But other times it works fine. When it dies I'll definitely get an aftermarket unit.

+2, love my stock setup. I hope it never goes out, because I don't want an aftermarket one. I dunno how I would even do aftermarket...I have the 2000 setup which has 2 seperate head units. lol

Mine works...when I use it. I rarely ever turn it on anymore.

The build quality is fair enough, had a CD stuck in it once and that's about it. I think the audio quality of the Mach460 is lacking though. I thought about replacing it with new speakers and a better head unit, but I never listen to it as it is.

They work fine to a point.. I have the 2 head unit setup as well.. well I did before I swapped it out. Its actualy very simple in the mustangs.. you just have to pop it out, attach an adapter to the harness, plug that adapter into your new deck, put the deck in, pull the cd player unit out, and put the blank place holder in its spot. 15 min job.

And for those that think the sound quality with the stock Mach 460 cd player is good.. you havent heard what JUST an aftermarket deck will do.. talk about an increase in quality and "loudness".. my stock deck's max volume would be about the equivilent of 17 on my new deck.. and it goes up to 30.. can hit 25 no crackling/poping.
