if its a npi car, its the heads and if its a PI car, its still the heads just not as bad.

The heads just don't flow well, ported or not.

Stock midpipe, or the stock tune. It is way too rich, advancing the timing, leaning it out a little bit will free up as much power as almost any other simple bolt-on.

Is there any way to advance the timing manually with our 4.6s, or must it be done through the CPU only? I know you can use a handheld tuner to advance the timing, but is there a timing adjuster on the cranck, etc., like on older cars? Thanks.

Yes and no. The 4.6's don't come with a timing adjuster, but they are available inexpensively from someone like Steeda.

ok...so how does one use a "timing adjuster"? How is practically handled? Do I have to remove the pulleys and expose the timing chain, etc.?
