Default Sometimes Hard to Get in Reverse

Sometimes when I got to put my "01" GT in reverse, it just wont go. I have to put it in 1st gear, pull up a little bit and then put it in reverse. Is this a normal thing or am I alone with this little problem?

I am having the same problem. I have a 98 though. Do you have a short shifter? Sometimes when I do go into reverse it grinds for a second too.

I used to have the same prollem until My dad exploded my gear box screwing arround with my Nitrous (I made him buy a new one)... Its typical in alot of mustangs especially as they age...My good friend has a 89 And you have to wrestle the shifter, like WRESTLE. Dont worry about it all it means is that your car has a personality

I'll have to keep that in mind, so when I get one I can do that too if that happens.

Reverse is not synchronized, so it dosn't go in like all of your other gears... Hit the clutch, put it in 4th(this stops the trans from spinning), and then put it in reverse... Sometimes you will need to ease the clutch out a bit to get it in...
