Default Short Shifter Seal

Is it ok if I dont have a seal/gasket on the shifter plate?

no, its not ok to NOT have any type of seal. Get some high temp RTV sealant and use that. It works just fine. Do NOT have no seal/sealant at all.

Use RTV sealant, best not to gamble with something so easy and can be found at most any auto parts store.

it takes an extra 2 mins to put RTV and it wont leak.

just make sure it doesnt squirt down into the tranny when you put on the shifter (dont apply an ungodly amount)

lol if u dont want transmission fluid anywhere i recommend the gasket maker! i used RTV... seconds to apply all worth it!

Well if it is supposed to be leaking everywhere its not. Should there be fluid in the shift case when I open the plate? Cuz I dont really have any, just a little at the bottom.
