Shorty headers aren't worthless. They may not provide as much top end hp or torque but the give back the torque you lose between 2k-4k, where you need it.

With all the hassel it seems to be with the long tube would it be just better to go with the shorties? How much perfomance difference is there if any at all, I know sound is different. Would the BBk shorties be good? How much of a pain is the shorties I believe you still have to unbolt the motor and jack it up correct?

shorties are a waste of time on a 4.6 your talking about minimal gains over stock. waste of money in my opinion

I love my LT's. They are not "hard" to install, it is just tedious and takes some time. Definantly worth it IMO.

Long Tube Header Install

It will take about 12-15 hours to install just so you are aware. A lot of people on this site will tell you not to do it. I would recommend doing it to save yourself a $500-$600 installation bill. I don't know about with auto's but with a manual it really isn't hard. It requires a minimal amount of tools. A set of sockets and open ended wrenches will get the whole job done. I would get them for sure. And no it ddoesn't require lifting the motor out to put them in, but highly recommended. Trust me, you want to take out the k member and it will be a piece of cake from there. Just check out the link, it is how I installed mine. If you think you can handle it do it, if not then waste $500 getting them put in.

Ok so shorties arnt worth my time or money right now, but also the cost (400-600) to install the long tubes plus the cost of the long tubes arnt worth it either (in a highschool student working part time paying on a 2000 Mustang GT) would a new x-pipe with high flow cats be better since they are cheaper and I'm guessing a lot easier to install.
