Default goodbye GT...hello lightning?

whats happenin guys and girls,

So I've been thinking... sell my 2003 GT, and buy like a 2001 lightning? it seems as though the lightnings with around 20-30k miles will run me about $19-22000, I'm figuring if the dealer doesnt wanna make me a great deal with my trade in, I'll sell my car myself, and i would like to get atleast 18ish for it...2003 GT, 6 disc cd, leather power driver seat, BRAND NEW 18in saleen rims/brandd new tires, 3.73s, upper/lower c/a's steeda springs, pro50 white guages, K&N, u/d pulleys and t/a. New transmission with under 1000miles on it, and under 16kmiles (8k of which are highway). does $18ish sound reasonable? Will it be worth my time for a lightning? from what I hear they screw! and with only a couple hundred bucks they can fly. thanks

chris

Yea the price for the mustang sounds about right. You will have a better chance of getting more money if you sell it by your self rather then trading it in. Of course you always say higher then 18k so that you can acutally get 18k for it. The lightning are bad *** trucks. Yes i think they are well worth it. I am working on getting one soon so i won't have to drive my cobra around and just use it as a weekend car and tow it to the track. Nothing is better then to have a lightning towing a cobra around. LOL. The only thing i would say is watch the warrenty.

good luck

I almost did the same thing, trade in my 03 Gt for an 01 Lightning. I test drove it and fell in love: it would eat a GT. My car had 4g miles the bolt 52g and they wanted 21g. Price on my trade, 16g, I laughed. Gas mileage is very low in the Bolts: 13MPG not uncommmon, but talk about torque.

If you want to know your cars worth, go to www.kellybluebook.com and punch in the numbers. It'll give you a figure and then add the $ on for what you think the mods are worth. Dealers will only go by that number so show them the printout and list the mods and your real trade in price. I'd bet they'd offer $16K...you have 16K on it and I assume loaded. Do the research first!

usually the more your car is modded the less the dealer will give you for it. Private sale is where its at for modded cars, you should try that first. My buddy has an 00 lightning. ****ing fast. I havent been able to line up with him yet, but im sure he'll eat me alive. The one thing that sucks about the lightning vs mustang is the girls. Every girl knows what a mustang is and alot get wet over them. I havent met a girl yet who knows what a lightning is, they say his truck looks like a normal pickup. If i could afford the trade, id do it. And ya the gas milage is horrible.

Yea I know the dealer wont wanna give me anything for my car which I why I'd like to sell it myself, if I choose too. I'm waiting for a call from the insurance company right now to find out how the insurance for the lightning would compair to the 4500 I pay for my car now. that could be the deciding factor for me. I love how my car looks and will hate to give it up, though I do think the lightning looks sweet, I like my cars looks a little better. But at the same time I want a fast car(truck) and the lightning would eat my car up all day, and correct me if I am wrong but with a couple hundred bucks the lightning would screaaam....

I agree with Moose. It's like having a fast civic. Sure, it might be fast, but you still have to drive around in a civic.

But I'm not a big pick up truck fan. If you like it, get it man...You're the one that has to drive it.
