can a 281 c.i. be stroked?

i was thinkin' maybe 302....

i dont know much about engines, help me out?

yeah they can be stroked to 300ci i think is the max rec.. but if you do that it has to be n/a and no n2o

what would the reason be that if you stroke it you can't blow it or N20 it? (just curious, honestly I wanna know)

if there is boring of the cylinders involved in making it a bigger displacement then the cylinder walls would be to thin and would flex and crack under the pressure. used to be in the circle track bussiness and guys would overbore a motor to much and it would do it.

when you stroke a motor that much the rods get weak. if you put boost or juice on it they would... well ya know..kaboom. i was going to do a stroker motor but then i found out all the negatives

oh okay. but how would STROKING it change it's strength? I.E. like changing the crank/rods/pistons?

i believe it has to do with the rods getting weaker when you lengthen them. not sure

if you have the a good bottom end (forged) it should hold up to it. And actually a longer rod length can be better, gives it more of a mechnical advantage on the crank, with less of a angle, with longer dwell time at the top of the cylinder so it equals more hp and torque. But usually if you stroke one (i dont know the stock stroke length vs. stroked stroke length) you will use a rod about the same length maybe a little shorter with a shorter and lighter pistion depending on how much longer the stroke is. Remeber changing rod lengths doesnt affect stroke, only the crank does.
