Default Warning about Ebay Intakes

Today I was working on general maintenance and cleaning my car, I decided it was time to clean my airfilter. I took apart my ebay intake and found a problem with my filter...

... The cap had completely disintegrated, the cap as I call it is the plastic top part opposite the open end you clamp to your tubing. So for some amount of time my intake has taken in unfiltered air.

I went out and bought a K&N filter to use with my intake kit. I figured I'd pass on the warning that the filters that come with the cheap intake kits from ebay are NO GOOD, if you buy a cheap ebay intake... use a K&N filter.

Yup. Front cap fell off out of the box, siliconed and pop riveted it back on. About a month later I backed out the driveway and there was my filter on the ground. The clamp base fell off. Siliconed and riveted it back on as well. It did not fit, I had to cut it and add an inch to it with a rubber clamp thing and had to move metal plate part that bolts to the fenderwell back an inch and drill new holes for the mounts. I hate it, but it works now.

By the time you spend the 45 for the ebay kit and the 50 for the K&N filter, you can buy a used BBK CAI for like 100 on ebay.
