Default Tires are to big!! Whatever!!

Ok heres my problem. I put 245/45/18 on my 01 Gt. And this makes my speedometer read incorrect. So I take it to a Ford dealer to have it hooked up to his computer and reset. Well after 1/2 hour they come back and tell me they can't reset my speedometer because Ford says my tires are to big!!! What the H... Can someone tell me if there is a way to have this fixed so I know how fast I'm really going. It made about 3 miles in hour difference. My tires are to big!! I don't think so.
Thanks in advance for all the great advice I know I'm going to get.

Yea you have to get a hand held tuner to correct the speedometer. I have 18"s also.

Getting a tuner will take care of it. You can also get a speedo recal for about $100

+1 to everything, please tell me you don't have a 245 tire stretched onto a 9 inch rim []

I have a 245/40/18 tire on a 18x9" rim which fits pretty good...
