WD-40 is great for removing grease, just keep it away from your belts and pulleys. Mineral spirits is great for removing road tar from the body. I usually use a soapy rag to wipe down the engine and then spay off with water, but lightly so I don't force any water into an electrical componet, and avoid soaking your cai if you have one. Armor all the plastics under the hood and it will look great. Avoid getting any grease or oil cleaners on your headers, since they get so hot theyll burn off anything on them and cause a terrible smell..

I just went to the car wash. Drove to the closest car wash on a saturday morning first thing. Washed my car. Dried it. then Started it and keep it running while I was cleaning the engine compartment. Turned the pressure wash on engine/tire cleaner sprayed the engine down. sprayed the dirty stuff heavy. everything got at least a light spray. turned it on rinsed. sprayed it all down or couse taking it easy on stuff like the belt & alternator
Having it running while spraying will let you know if its something shouldnt be sprayed that hard. Always been told if it starts to die just back of that spot. If it does end up dying just finish spraying it down. I didnt have any problem, no stumbling, studdering, dying or anything.
Now I did buy some Wire Dry from autozone just in case. This would come in handy if it does die. Just spray down the electrical components. let it dry for a few and give her a start
I did spray the electrical connection down alittle with the wire dry before driving back, but wasnt really needed

I sprayed some engine cleaner on my whole engine and LIGHTLY hosed it off, didn't want to mess anything up.
