Get the 99 GT, and throw a blower on there then call it a day. With that extra money you save from the cobra you could be pushing 415 hp to the wheels, which is much more than that cobra anyway.

Like the others said, if your really going to spend $20K, start looking for an 03' Cobra. Now that would be well worth the money if you were going to spend it anyway. If not, I would stick to the GT and give it some juice.

The Build quality on the cobra is alot better, the engines are hand assembled and everything inside is pretty much loaded, I just bought a 2001 cobra and I have to say that I love it alot more than the GT, The cobra's are special cars, as far as fuel consumption it all depends on how you drive, the cobra will be a little worse because its so fast that you will want to rev it to 7000 every time, The day that I got it I went through a full take of gas and went only 80 miles but then again I was testing it out.

COBRA>GT. The GT with a S/C will be faster, but you are looking at probaly 18-19k once you buy a kit and have it installed, then get supporting mods. 16k seems REALLY high for a 99, or maybe I'm just off on a vert, but I know that 2001 coupes go for a little less than that.

Unless the 99 did not ge tthe recall of the heads fixed.. then its making about 280 to the crank.

It depends on your purpose. are you planning to drag race it quite a bit, or are you planning to only use it around town taking a fwe corners and having fun in it? If it drag racing, then the IRS just SUCKS. I got to see that first hand last night... wheel hop is evil in the early IRS car's. you need quite a few suspension mods to help hold it down to say the least.. or a solid axle swap..

There was a recall? On what? And how was the power affected that much?

Just so I can clarify what I meant by 330-340 at the wheels, thats with just a base S/C at 6psi and no supporting mods, none. Now if you up the boost to 8-10psi with full bolt ons, than I can see over 400 at the wheels. And no, the only Cobras with 6spd are 03/04. Can someone please let me know where I can find an 03/04 Cobra with any amount of miles and a for real deal, for under $27,000. Theres been about 10 or so 03/04 Cobras for sale in my area in the past year or 2, and none of them was under $28,000, most were around $30,000.

Mine was $32,500. After some walking out & a trade in (1,000 over what I owed) I paid a little under 27,000 for an 04 Cobra with 16,000 miles.
