Burnout problem??
Hey guys......The other night my buds wanted to see me do a burnout in my '02 GT. It's stock except for the K&N less air silencer and Flowmasters. I'm still a little new to the car, but I'm not quite sure how to do it. My car is a 5-speed and so, I revved it to about 3k and let off the clutch and it spun really good but then it gets up to about 5k and I have to change gears. Is there any way to keep your spin through the gear change? Also, my tires don't really squeal. They just spin. Is it just the type of rubber? They are Kuhmos. Sometimes, if I'm stopped and I let off the clutch at a low rpm like 1000 or 1500, I'll feel the rear end slide, even when I don't really get on it. Is there something wrong? Like I said, I'm still new to the car. The torque converter isn't screwed up is it? Sometimes it just feels too easy to get sideways......Is this normal for a stock GT?

RE: Burnout problem??
Its going to stop spinning through the shift, but the best way to keep it from stoping the spin to much would be to powershift. keep the foot on the gas, hit the clutch and shift. not really recommended, can be easy way to need to rebuild a transmission. If your just wanting to do a burnout just put it in 2nd rev it higher than you do for the 1st gear burnout, dump the clutch and if you are wanting to say in one spot move your foot to the brakes after dumping the clutch and hold the brakes moderately, to hard and it will stall. I ended up getting a line lock after trying to do a good burnoutt a few times at the track.
I dont hear mine tires squel either, whether its me spinning the MT DR's or the regular tires I have. Just think the exhaust covers them up or im not pay attention since im focused on the tach, and everything else around.
far as the rear moving around on a take off just need better tires, and control arms would help too

Proper burnout procedure:
1) Use your right foot (turned sideways) and work the brake with your heal and the gas with your toes..
2) Use your left foot to work the cluch..
3) Rev the car to about 4k and let the cluch out as fast as possible in 1st gear..
4) Using your heal and toes you can adjust the brake pressure and gas.. Meaning if you want a rolling burnout you can let off the brake and cost a bit while smoking the tires.. Or, if you want more smoke then press harder on the gas..
5) If your feeling frisky, use your left foot again and push in the cluch and yank the stick into 2nd gear.. Do it fast and keep your toes on the gas.. Your RPM will shoot up while you do it and give the tires the extra jolt they need to break loose in 2nd gear..
Click on my sig.. Those are two burnouts using the exact procedure I explained above.. The second link shows how the tire stopps when shifting into 2nd gear..
