Default convertible top

I'm looking to replace the tan top on my 99 gt with a black one. Does anyone know how difficulut replacing the top is? info on the install ? or a good place to get a new top? I'm sick of tan, and after seeing a few cars on here with the black top, I gotta go black. Thanks ahead of time for any advice.

Ya, i was thinking of changing my top, but I kinda like the triple white. I dont think they are too hard to install. You could always have a shop do it for tou, unless you are short on cash.

i changed mine 3 months ago (someone broke the window so i changed everithing), and after 6 hours, and a lot of swearing i finished, if you want a good weekend project do it by yourself if not check for car upholstery in the yellow pages and make some calls and get some prices, i got my top form dallasmustang.com fast shipping, well they shiped me the window twice (the top is two parts the rear curtain and the top) so if you want to do it i can sell you the extra window for way less than they will sell you anywhere...

6 hours? sounds like fun. My back window is still in good shape, so I don't think I need a new one. If you don't mind me asking, what tools did the job require? and did you get some sort of directions on how to put it on? I'm a cheap bastard as we are saving for a house and would rather do it myself, but I'm a little nervous that I'm gonna rip something that supposed to go back on.

I also was sick of the tan so I got a black top too (I'm converting my tan interior to black at the moment). I got my new black top with rear window/defroster for ~$900 installed. It was a steep price, but its the best thing I have done to my car hands down.

$900 wow. More than I was hoping to spend. Yeah it was actually some pics of your car that made me decide I wanted to go with a black top. My car looks to be the same color, and that the black top looks sick. I was hoping to upgrade the brakes and suspension this summer, if I drop another 900 on top of the $2500 set aside my wife is gonna kill me.

need some upholstery glue screwdivers and a stappler is a pain in the butt... anyway even if your window is in good condition and if you want to replace the top to a diferent color you will have to get a new "curtain" the curtain comes with the window and the bottom part is visible if you leave the curtain window it will look like this
so anyway if you are interested i can sell you that curtain for cheap
