What do you mean "shift". Shifting wastes time, just bury the tach!

From some track experience,5200-5800 rpm from 2nd gear on up. That is what has worked for me and what advice people have given me at the track. Practice and you'll
find the right rpm for your power curve. If you shift to high, you'll know because your rev limiter will kick in or you will lose power. .!st gear is a matter of what works for you and
the kind of tires you have to hook.

remember all cars are different. but all cars have a peak point. the best thing to do is dyno your car and find out where it is in the power band you get the most power. once you do that you will know where to shift. listening to people tell you where to shift is pointless. i may shift at 5600 but that might not be a good shift point for you.

speed shift all the way thru the 1320!!!

Redline is not the way to go most of the time, but ALL of the time w/a stock GT. What you need to do like someone said was get a dyno to see how your spread of power is. With that & PRACTICE, you be getting respectable numbers from ur stocker. If u can get a good launch from a dig, & shift at say no later than 5600rpm you should do good. Find out where the meat is, & find out the peak, so you will know.

From races I've had with identical GT's & 99+ earlier Cobra's...

Shifting about 400-500 rpms before red line, I'm able to pull on equally fast cars because they run up to redline.

Well, on a stock 4.6 SOHC engine i'd shift at 5,000. The SOHC engine doesnt make HP or ft.lbs of torque after 4,??? i cant remember exactly. because if you keep going on youre tach, youre loosing hp. But to each his own. I shift at 5.
