Default PI vs Ported NPI with cams

Well i ended up picking up a 4.6 with 30k out of a wreck 97 t-bird (paid $350). I've been starting to think about my choices. I can:

1)Do a pi swap, bumping my compression to 10:1.
or
2) Port the new motors heads, 5-angle valve job, springs, cams, LT headers, ported pi intake manifold, and get a tune.

I don't have a whole lot of money to port the pi heads and do the rest of the bolt on's, and i want to keep the compression down for a blower. I've heard that ported npi heads are better then pi heads, but n/a what kinda of power difference will i see? I know the ported head setup i'm looking at will for sure make more power, but how does it compare to the basic pi swap?

The probably will still be in the intake manifold. The only manifold I am aware of for the npi engine is the svo intake. Which is a great intake if you feel like spending $1500.

Something to think about, the Tbird has a different intake manifold (different than a NPI one). And the PI intake will not bolt up to your NPI heads without adapter plates. The plates will cost you a few HP in the end.

I've read that with a little modification the pi intake manifold will mate up to the npi heads, plus a local guy has one on his npi as well.

I'd love to get a svo... but once again i'm a poor college student trying to make a slow car fast.

You can get adapter plates, but they are supposed to cost ya RWHP.

Have you looked into junkyard PI motors? They made a ****ton of these cars every year, there should be alot out there to choose from....

I have, and i got way to sweet of a deal on this npi 4.6 to pass it up. The cheapest pi 4.6 is $1500 and thats with 2x's the miles, and i could do a pi swap for 1000 and make more power.
