Default good used engine

well I drove a few hundred miles again and having topped off my oil already it's down again. This is retarded... no puddle, no drastic smoke. Yet it keeps burning oil like it was candy.

I am gonna start a savings for an engine out of a 'new edge' mustang, the pi engine 99-04.

How much will the engine run me for one with 50k or less on it? What can I expect to come with it?

Also, what exactly do I need to install it, or will it essentially drop in? What has to change? can I still use the ignition coil and spark plug wire setup, or am I required to go coil on plug? What wiring do I need to change? I do know I have to relocate one coolant temp sensor which is no big deal.

Any information about this swap would be greatly appreciated, as I want to do it within a year or so. The car is awesome... this NPI engine is being a big turd

Thanks all

George

i would say that the motor would cost between $1100-1600 as far as the swap i think that you will need the computer for the newer motor or you might be able to have your's re-flashed other than that i don't know what else. good luck

cool because a cobra motor is out of the question, and I probalby wont make this car into a full race car any time soon... unfortunately if ever, but I love it and I think rather than get a new stang I could get a new engine and be set for a long while

this comes after I buy my beater.... ugh....

I dunno why it loves oil so much... it runs so very good too

what state do you live in?

If I can find a guy that is close to MO and wants to buy a PI engine, I have a possible deal on a wrecked bullitt. I want the bullitt intake cause it makes so much more power with a blower and can be ported, so it would have a regular 99-04 PI intake on it (mine).

That and I want the seats

that's cool. Unfortunately right now I am not in the position to buy an engine, just looking to plan it. I NEED and absolutely MUST get my 2nd car before I do any more major work to mine. First off I can't be usin gmy parents' cars because they need them most of the day, and also I refuse to drive this stang in the snow again.

Just checked ebay and there are a ton of NPI engines up for a good deal but if I'm gonna go through this trouble it will be a PI engine

hey i have a 98gt and like it alot but was going to get rid of it for a 06gt until i drove, it for $30k they can keep their 06's i have just added a powerdyne supercharger (cheepest one i could finde),BBK75mm throttle body, C&L plenum,C&L80mm mafs & predator diablosport tuner. now i'll never get rid of it. it's better than a new car now & with a couple more minor modds i'll be at a cool 400rwhp. it's not the fastest but it's all mine and the best part is i did all the work myself with the stock motor. if i only had a 99-04 motor, that extra hp would have been great, but to go from 225hp at the crank to 468hp at the crank it's hard not to gigle every time i drive it . take your time do your reserch and have a blast but don't be stupid with it.

yup, i'm not half arsing anything and I'm only fixing what gets broken. but if I have to tear into it, it's getting upgraded at least a little bit and it will be my project

once i get my 2nd vehicle I can be more patient with this one
