I finally got off my butt...
Well, after waiting for the stars to align and the parts to arrive, I installed the MagnaFlow catted X and cat back yesterday.
First, having never done it before, I was a little intimidated by it. Especially when I cut the stock exhaust off with a saw and realized I was committed!
Second, the mid pipe was far easier than I thought. I put WD40 on the nuts and let it sit 30 minutes. Using a 1/2 drive breaker bar and 15mm socket, I got all the nuts loose without problems. Even the dreaded passenger lower nut was not too difficult. I used a universal on that one, though. I used a very tall jackstand to hold up the back while loosening the bolts. That made it easy.
Third, the Magnaflow exhaust instructions suck butt. They tell you to install front to rear. DON'T. Hang the mufflers, then fit the tailpipes. After the tails are fitted, work the hangers onto the tailpipes. After that, then install the short adapter pipes between the mufflers and the mid pipe. This is SO much easier. Once everything is aligned, tighten the bolts. By doing this, I have to vibrations, rattles, or rubbing.
I had plans to take pics and do a full write up, but the camera was left at home and I didn't have time to take pics anyway. The total time for the install was 2.5 hours (by myself). I would have been done in 1.75-2.0 except I had to stop and curse the tailpipes for 30 minutes or more until I stopped following the instructions and did it my way.
I'm going to put it on the lift next Wednesday to recheck the bolts, so I'll try to snap some photos then. If I can figure it out, I'll try to get some audio of the exhaust. It's very deep and sounds almost stock until 2000 rpms.
For everyone who offered advice on this install, thank you.
