I forgot to ask, what is the largest cam i can go with and wont cause any problems with piston to valve clearance and do i really need a stall or will the car still be drivable with out the stall with such large cams.

I wouldn't go any higher than a stage 2 cam. You will need a stall though.

p.i. cams are the highest lift you can do i do have .550 and i am still doing good but remember it not the lift its the duration that kills you the bigger duration the more chance you have of have piston to valve contact

make sure the cam has a .500 lift
and if your an automatic you might want to get a stall with a stage 2 cam

+1

My car definatly does not like to be ran under about 1500 RPM with the stage 2s. You will definatly want to get a stall with these or your probably gonna have major problems off the line, even with 4.30s.

so other than idle, you can't cruise under 1500 rpm with those?

(now i know why my buddy's time's suck with his nova... he has a HUGE cam in it w/o a stall torque converter)

it acts stupid, bucks and bogs down. it clears up around 1700 or so RPM, and it only is real bad around 1400 and below.

You defiantly would not want to try to launch from a idle etc.

hmm... my buddy's nova when he floors it off the line it kinda dogs until the rpms come up... i sincerely hope when he gets is 4 speed auto w/overdrive that he gets a stall!!! what would be good, like 2500 or 3000 stall?

I think is cam is comparable to a stage 3

and he's also getting 4.11s too eventually

right now with the haggard setup he runs 13.6... hopefully with the new stuff he'll be in the 12s
