RE: Best Underdrive pulleys
Hey,
I've got the bbk power plus underdrives and i've had no probs with a/c, lights, etc. there was some noticeable power gains but not much. i was kinda disappointed that i had to put the stock harmonic balancer/pulley over the new pulley but oh well. i wish i woulda bought steedas.

If you put on the alternator pulley, check the voltage at the battery at idle with everything turned on.If you don't get at least 12.5 volts remove the alternator pulley(you could do this before installing the alt pulley) and see what you get. This will keep you from overloading and overheating the alt.I had to remove the under drive alt.pulley from my MK VIII to keep from cooking the alternator.

I put March Performance pullies on last summer and have had no problems with voltage. A pain in the butt to put on, make sure you have a good air wrench. I havn't noticed any dramatic
hp gains, IM going to the track this weekend and find out if there worth the $129. I also had to put the stock dampner back on with the new pulley ???????

Buy Steeda. They may be a little more expensive, but they are definately worth your money. They are really nice because they are not piggyback pulleys. They took a good 0.1 off my quarter mile time, and put me below the 14 second mark, which is respectable. I have noticed no side effects to my car since I put them on. I also have a 200 watt amp I'm running from the battery, and I have NO problems keeping that thing charged. If you go anything bigger than a small amp you might have problems, but I'm not dumb enough to risk it. I've read reviews and tests, and Steeda are the best for power and durability. You don't want one breaking on you. I've heard that happening with piggyback sets.
