Default Blower Planning help

Ok so I am seriously looking into getting a blower for my 01. I have a couple questions. 1st question with lower amounts of boost how many people are keeping their engines for a while. My engine has about 60k miles on it but I am hoping it will last a bit longer.

Second how much would a engine rebuild with some good or decient internals cost? Trying to make sure I will have the money to play if something goes wrong.

Finally I have an Auto tranny how will it stand up? Cost of repair for rebuild?

Thanks for any help.

as long as you get a centerfugal version with low boost 6ish PSI your engine will be fine, as long as your not romping on it drag racing all the time. as far as a rebuild you would want to go no other way than forged internals. this way you can run 12-14 psi safely, non intercooled and even more than that intercooled. as far as trannys go i have a 5spd so i only know clutches, but i wouldnt get another tranny untill you stocker craps out

What kind of numbers do you think I could get with 6 PSI or so?

vortech claims with thier v2 sq s trim full kit you will make 364 hp i cant remember if that is at 6 or 8 psi. either way they are both very reliable amounts of boost. you will see even better results with a TB and Plenium and some exhaust work done. but remember....MOST importantly, a supercharger is only as good as its tune, so make sure you get it done right. this is why you hear about engines blowing on people with FI, the timing is too advanced, fuel is too lean... all due to a bad tune

Not the best deal out there, but it is a good deal. I paid 2700 for a new kit with 42lb injectors, a 255lph fuel pump, 90mm Lightning MAS, boost gauge, A/F gauge, power pipe, Polished head unit, all the piping was brand new, and all the brackets. The only thing I bought used was the Head unit, and they will hold up longer than your engine. Don't run 6psi, it's a waste. Run 10, if you get a centrifugal S/C, you wont 8psi boost until around 5700+, so if you stay out of it your fine, but then when you need it, it's there.

A high flow fuel pump and injectors is a must when installing a supercharger. without these you will blow up your engine for sure

And a good tune. I would STRONGLY recommend getting the 42lb injectors and the Focus fuel pump. My kit came with the Walbro 255lph pump from Vortech and it maxed out on me at 4500rpms. So now I had to put my car right back out of commission to get the focus pump installed, and retuned. Other than that some NGK tr5 plugs gapped at .035 and you are good to go.
