Ford craftsmanship???

Ford craftsmanship???
I have a 2001 GT with 35,000 miles on it and I treat it like gold, fluid changes on time, etc. So this weekend my driver side window wouldn't go up. It was stuck all the way down and whenever I pressed the button to go up or down the door would shake and make this horrid banging sound. The mechanic took the door apart and this piece that was once welded to this mechanical arm-type setup had come off. He showed me the places the welding used to be and I was blown away. It was welded on by literally 3 drops. He made some comment about Ford craftsmanship, so now I'm wondering what I'm in for. At 20,000 miles I had to replace the fan for the A/C/heat. And the worst thing about all of this is that when I bought the car new I was in Virginia, and the Ford dealership sold me this extended warranty that is actually not a Ford extended warranty-it's some aftermarket deal. Apparantly, that is something the Ford dealers do in the south, and now that I'm back in New England for good no dealers (and no mechanics I've found) will honor that waranty.
So, I guess I'm wondering if what I hear about Ford craftsmanship is true and my stang is going to start falling apart. Because if so I'm screwed because this 70,000 mile waranty is crap in New England.

RE: Ford craftsmanship???
First shouldn't this repair be under the standard 3/36 Ford warranty. If not you should check with the dealer who sold you the warranty and see how to proceed. You will probably have to pay the dealer that is repairing the car now and maybe you can then submit the bill to the original dealer. If they refuse you can try to negotiate perhaps a lesser amount. Many times these warranties are an insurance policy that is underwitten. Good luck!

Also, if this really isn't a Ford warranty, in many cases you can cancel the aftermarket warranty and get a refund on the balance. I have a warranty like that. It's worth looking into.

I would see about getting at least a partial refund. It will probably be prorated and you should be able to get at least half of the amount back. If the person you dealt with when you bought the car is not responsive work your way up the food chain until someone does something.
Keep us updated on this.
