RE: right price?
yeah, the car is 5spd. they had just got it in froma trade in and hadnt even givin it a good clean yet so they are cleaning it up and were gunna go see it tomorow and give them a price. now im thinking 12,500 is the max we'll offer them, if they dont take it were taking our deposit money back and walking away.

If you can, pay for it all at once without financing and you should get the upper hand in haggling the price down. Aim for about $11,000.
no matter what you pay with, cash, or a loan, the person you're buying the car from is gonna get their money right away
just thought i'd throw that out there, taking a fat wad of cash might only work if the private party seller cant even wait for the loan to clear...but that is kind of rare

"I" wouldn't pay over $11K for it.

Wow I really feel like I got a deal a couple years ago from a dealer. I got mine (02 GT) with 32,9xx miles for a little over 13k. I'm glad I got mine when I did. I love it to death too. That was two years ago I got it as well. If you keep looking around you might find a better deal.

if you really think about it,, this logic is falso, regardless of buying the vehicle from a dealer, OR a private party.

I paid $10,800 for my 2001 with 42K. I bought it from a family friend. He bought a C6 and the dealer was going to give him $10,200 so I gave him the little extra he would have got from the trade's tax savings. It had gears, exhaust, and uninstalled rai included.
