Default COST TO REBUILD THE TOP END "COBRA"

How much should it cost to have the top end rebuilt on a 1997 Mustang Cobra?

at the very least a grand, maybe two.

I'd look into buying a set of rebuilt or aftermarket heads as opposed to rebuilding yours

I want to keep the stock heads, so I was trying to get a ballpark price on the rebuild and install. I was thinking it would be about $3000 but I thought I'd ask around. Any help would be great, oh ya I have never brought my car to the shop, I have always done the work myself, but I no longer have a garage or a place to work on the car. This is why I have no idea how much it should cost.
ALSO what clutch should I use?

depends how much you want out of the car

I"ve heard great things about spec clutches, but I am very pleased with my king cobra

what is wrong with your car that makes you think it needs a rebuild on the top end only?

theres a lot of top end noise, the guides a most likely worn and need to be replaced. So I thought just have the heads rebuilt. Also the car has 100,000 miles.

Pulls like a Pony... what a stupid saying..... Yea other then the top end noise, the car has a S#!T load of power, The clutch dosen't like to grab at high RPM's (over 4500) but off the line no prob's

your bottom end is probably fine...

i have plans to rebuild my ENTIRE engine.. but that's a separate issue

what do you plan to do besides rebuild the top end? maybe stage 1 cams?

if anything I'd say look into a king cobra clutch, because if you don't go forced induction or nitrous you probably won't need more

I will most likely stay stock with the engine, I want to get the trans and the rear end ready for the power before I do a BIG build. The King Cobra clutch dose sound good, other people I have talked to had nothing but good stuff to say about it.

yup! it's GREAT for everything up until forced induction, nitrous, or hardcore racing all the time

well if you are rebuilding stock then the king cobra will be fine. i'd price a set of stage 1 cams... they don't require any changing of anything, and while yo uare in there i'd be a good idea to do
