question over horsepower...and engine oil...please response!!!
I just bought a 2000 mustang GT automatic from dealer for $9500 with brand new tires. the condition of the car is good, driven 76000k. I have no idea about what brand of oils and oil changes interval's that previous owner's had been using. I checked the engine oil dipstick while the engine was cold it doesnt seem to be that dark also the tranny oil is in normal condition. dealer told me that the car has been inspected and services been done such as oil change.
but i dont think that dealer may have used fully synthetic oil so since I am gonna take good care of my car.....so the question is should i change my engine oil to mobile 1 fully synthetic with 5000k intervals since it has 76000miles at the moment, should i get the engine flushed before switching to MOBILE 1 SYN? or should i just do drain and fill? and about transmission should I flush the tranny every after 30000k or just do the drain and fill with penzoil dexron III?
is penzoil dexron III any good for 00 GT? (automatic tranny) please help............any help would be grateful.
Oh and may I know whats the horsepower of 2000 GT auto...it seem to be 260hp but just wanna make sure.

Tranny flushing with as many miles as you had, ahh, it's a toss up.
I always vote flush your transmission atleast once a year depending on the mileage you put on the car yearly. A lot of people have PRE-EXISTING transmission problems that they simply didn't notice happening & once they got the flush, the problem became much more evident.
You don't need the engine flushed to switch to synthetic.

Bunch of good starter questions.
After I bought my stang, it had dino oil in it of some type (7500 miles), I swapped it to a cheap synthetic for the first change, 5w20, as for the second change (current), I put Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w20 and will continue doing that... 1200 miles before I change again, changing every 5000. Changed it at 12k, 15k, next will be 20k, then 25k etc. When you change it, just drain and fill... anything that's left won't even effect the oil's color (almost clear going in, will stay almost clear).
I can't speak for the auto tranny because I have a stick, but there's a few auto experts around here. I'd have it flushed personally I think.
You should have 260-265 HP, that's at the flywheel... 225 RWHP as a low estimate.
