Engine runs like POO after Wash
So I washed the engine bay yesterday with a hose and now it runs like it is only firing on 7 cylinders. It idles like @#$% and the car vibrates at idle. I took it for a ride after I washed it to try and clear it up but it never did. I put some dry gas in thinking I might have gotten water somewhere undesirable and still runs like SH#$. I parked it and figured I'd give it some time to dry out and now it is even worse. It smells like it is Running very rich and is smoking now and has a little knocking sound but not when I give it gas so I know it is not a rod. Does anyone have any ideas what I might have FU#$%^ up by washing the engine I have washed it many times with no problems

i've never had this problem myself, but have heard of it. the coil packs are problem areas when it comes to washing under the hood. checks your plug wires where they connect to the coil packs. they should dry out pretty quickly though. other than that, not sure.

i had this problem, take out all plugs/ plug wires, disconnect from coil packs. use a dry cloth and stick it down were the plugs were and dry everything, then do the same thing with the coil packs. dry the plugs put it back together. go get a full tank of premium gas and that should clear it right up

I had the exact same problem and I did this to clear it up. Although I did replace all my plugs. This is a good fix!

i changed my plugs too, but i think if he just cleaned them then they should work fine, if he doesnt want to spend any money

Actually I was gonna replace the plug wires and plugs in a week anyway. I have new valve covers at the powder coater right now and was just gonna change everything out when it was disassembled. So your cars did what I described? It just scared me because I have washed my engine before and never had a problem.
