Default Possible Clutch Problems

I finally got my stang back today, but i think that the clutch may be messed up.

They put a used engine it it, but they bought a new flywheel and clutch for it.

It is grabbing nearly at the edge of the pedal(when it is all the way released) but it is having difficulty going into reverse unless it's completely idled down and everything.

The pedal is even harder than it was before, almost to the point off too hard.

When you pully away out of 2nd, and lug the engine, it is making this funny clunking sound.

How much freeplay is supposed to be in the pedal? It seems as if it is adjusted right, but it is acting really funny though.

Is there a spring somewhere that puts tension on the pedal or do i just need to adjust it some and where do i adjust it at?

Let me know what you think, thanks, robert

well it must b messed up then cuz it is engaging way too late and yet the pedal has about the right free play. They are going to try adjusting it tomorrow, and i think that may fix it, but when the pedal is competely out, the clutch is squeaking until i push it in a little bit and then it stops. Why would it be doing that?

sit in the drivers seat. put your foot UNDER the clutch pedal, and pull it up towards you. i dont think you need to do this super hard, but you can be the judge of that. then put your foot on the pedal and push it to the floor. you should hear it adjusting.

that might not fix your problem, but i'm pretty sure thats how it's supposed to be adjusted.
