Default Whats the difference?

Just got done looking at a 04 gt. What is the difference between the 40th ann. edition and the ones that arent? The dealer was a ford dealer and they had no idea. [&:] He tried to tell me that it came from the factory with the exhaust that was on it, i crawled under there to look and it was SLP so i just figured that he was an idiot.

All of the 04 GT's came with the two 40th anniversary badges on the sides by the fenders, but not all were considered 40th Anniversary models. The actual 40th's had two stripes on the hood and a little plaque by the T/C buttons that said 40th anniversary. They only came in 3 colors i think also. But performance/ part wise, same as a good old normal GT.

Ok thanks, well this one didnt have any stripes on the hood. So i guess they were just BSin me so they could sell the car. Good looking car either way, but i think i will keep looking for a mach1. Thanks

There was a burgundy type color with a saddle interior as a 40th only edition. I think the color is on the '05+ as well...

The 40s also have the shifter bezel and SS pedals, but the anniversary editions were not limited to GTs. V6s we also availalbe. The wheels on the 40s were Arizona Beige to match the stripes. I think the black car in question was just an '04.

here is all you need to know about the 40th Anniversary edition...... hope this helps.

2004 Mustang Specs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2004 Mustang Overview

The Mustang underwent minor changes for 2004. 2004 was the Mustang's 40th anniversary, and as such, all models recieved a "40th Anniversary" badge on the fenders. The base model recieved a new 3.9L V6 midway through the year which offered no increase in power, weight, or fuel economy. Two new colors, Competition Orange and Screaming Yellow, were added to the Mustang lineup.

The GT went unchanged for 2004, but a new package called the 40th Anniversary Edition was offered on the base and GT models. A new color, Crimson Red, was offered only on the 40th Anniversary Edition. The only other colors offered were Black and Oxford White. 40th Anniversary Edition models also came with premium wheels, body-color fold in mirrors, "40th Anniversary" floormats, and beige stripes on the trunk, hood, and sides. They also came with an interior upgrade package which included larger headrests and silver-colored interior trim. Only 5700 of the 40th Anniversary Edition Mustangs were made.

The Mach 1 was offered unaltered in 2004. Even fewer were made than in 2003. The Cobra was also offered again in 2004 with no significant changes. The lone exception was the addition of a new color to the Cobra's options list called MystiChrome. This color-changing paint was similar to the Mystic paint offered on Cobras in 1996. MysticChrome offered even better color distinction than the original, and shifted from green to blue to purple to black. The MystiChrome Cobras also featured color-changing leather seats and steering wheels. Only 1010 MysticChrome Cobras were ever produced, and the color was a $3650 option.
