Default K member selection

Okay, sometime down the road, I want to install a new K member when I do headers. I have found three versions so far. Keep in mind that its for a DD, I'm keeping the stock A arms, and I'm not going coil over, so it will have perches. I want a strong, dependable K member and I'm not worried about the price.

Looking at them, I think the granatelli is the strongest looking of the three, but I don't know for sure.

I like the MM one but if you get into an accident and have replaced the stock K with an aftermarket your insurance company can refuse to fix the damage to your car. I confirmed this with my agent.

Well, it appears that Granatelli is the winner, as I suspected. Saving weight is a part of the equation, but getting some clearance around the motor is a bigger part of the swap. The granatelli just looks to be a lot stronger, more substantial if you will. I think the insurance company would be happier with that one, since I don't race the car.

Thanks for the few votes that I received.

P.S. UPR is about the last thing I'll put on my car. Based on everything I've heard, I rate them about one notch above MAC.

The thing is, most of them are going to weigh about the same, so a fractional lb. or so shouldn't sway you from a decision...

And not trying to be rude, but what difference does it make if it's on a race car or a daily driver?? It's a good modification to have regardless, and I'm sure you won't necessarily feel the benefits right away, but it'll help your car's stability, it'll give you PLENTY of clearance for doing things other than just headers, and it decreases the weight of the already-heavy front end....

Tubular control arms are a great idea too, especially if you don't live in an area that has a lot of potholes, or dirt roads..
