Underdrive pulleys

RE: Underdrive pulleys
Best company is Steeda, hands down.
Originally, I installed MAC 'piggyback' pulleys. The stock crank pulley is mated to the MAC aluminum crank pulley and both are installed as one piece. Big mistake. It cause a vibration in the motor between 2500-2800 rpm, which in set of the CEL with a misfire code. So, after trying for two weeks to fix it, I gave up and bought Steeda pulleys. They are steel and there is no piggyback on the crank.
So, I've used both and can say that Steeda is fantastic. March makes pulleys also, just make sure you get the SFI approved damper, or you may accidentally order their piggyback version. They have both. You need to make sure which water pump you have. There was a change from the long shaft to the short shaft in 2001, so you have to figure that out. I don't know how to tell the difference, otherwise I'd tell you.
I noticed some gains (probably 5 rwhp), but Steedas allow the easy addition of their timing adjuster, which I also have. I have mine set to 14 degrees total advance. If you have a tuner or plan to get one soon, don't bother with the TA, as the tuner can adjust timing. Also, if you're planning on going the S/C route anytime soon, don't get pulleys; they don't work well with S/Cs.
Hope this helps. If you get pulleys and want directions, click this---> https://mustangforums.com/fb.asp?m=1478766

RE: Underdrive pulleys
I have BBK UD pulleys and they work great never had any problems. Increased my hp by 6 or 7 on the dyno if I remember correctly. I'm getting an SCT tuner so I dont have to worry about not being able to use manual Timing adjusters.
