Offsets
Im ordering wheels and such now and im seeing differnt offsets that i can get. I drive a 2001 GT which offset do i need? For the front 17x9 the choices are +24mm +36mm or +45mm. For the rear 18x10 the choices are +24mm or +34mm. im really confused on all of this i tried googling for offset but didnt really get a better understanding of it.
Mr_Kebo do not take what I have to say as solid truth because I am new to Mustangs but am looking at wheels because I will be needing a set of wheels soon. I have 2 tires getting worn so that's a good reason for wheels, right? I believe you need 24mm offsets. The larger the offset the farther out the wheel will fit is the way I understand it.
I am going with about the same size wheels. 17"x9" fronts and 17"x10.5" rears. I would like to fit 275/40 up front and 315/35 in the back.
Offset is how far from the center line of the wheel the back plate of the wheel that will contact the mounting point of the hub. More offset means it hits it sooner so the wheel has more on the outside of the centerline. Less and the wheel fits in closer. If this is incorrect will someone please correct me? I will check Stage3 as they have these size wheels and will see what ofsets they sare selling. mark

Stage 3 is selling +24mm offsets. Im really wanting to fill out my rear tire well cause when i look at my car now it just looks empty with my 17x9 in the rear. The 17x9 in the front fills it out very nicley.
I am going to get 17"x9" for the front with a 275/40 tire and 10.5" for the rear(27mm offset) with a 315/35 tire. I do believe a tire that is that wide on a 10.5" rim will fill the wheelwell just fine! I have seen wheel/tire sets for sale on rBay with those size tires with the 24mm front offset and 27mm offset in the rear. If you get a 10" rear wheel a 295 tire should fit fine and still fill the well! I like the Cobra R's or the newer Cobra's, I believe they are called 2003's. The company on ebay is OEwheels. They may have a website. www.oewheels.com ?
I just went to ebay and did a search on the auto site for "Chrome cobra R wheels" That's where I found the 17x9's and 17x10.5's. I believe they list the offsets as 24mm front and 27mm rears. Tire rack hjas the 315's for $10*. and the fronts for $88. mark
