big cam problem help!!!!!1

ok so im worried now......i put the comp cam 270's in this past weekend......ok now for the problem i didnt really feel the power and i got a random missfire code........now lets say i messed up on the timing chains a tooth or 2 would that cause a missfire or would that cause the car no not run.......and if i did i think it may be ratarded becuz there is no pinging...........let me know what u guys think before i take it all apart again.....oh by the way i checked all the spark plugs and coils they all seem to be in working order........HELP!!!!!!!!! and yes i changed the valve springs and my 5.4 only has 40,000 miles

Yes it will run if the cam timing is off by a tooth but it will not run as strong, it will misfire and throw a code for it, good luck.

Check the cam position sensor before you tear it apart again.

Oh yeah, once she's up and running right, you have to record it so we can listen. I'm looking at those same cams for next year and I'm very interested is what you get out of them.

+1 My cam is going in next year as well... gotta hear what it sounds like and what it feels like in the seat of your pants difference.

Did you spin the engine by hand and check for PTV? Did you Degree in the cams? Those cams are notorious for PTV if not installed properly. You may have slight contact and bent some valves.

no it runs.... no damage just of yet, i didnt degree the cam after spending 3 days on the valve springs i just couldn't wait... im taking it apart on sunday and degreeing the cam .....ill tell you this it sounds bad *** tho...i figure something was wrong when i took it out for the first time and i barely chirped 3rd i was like did i just lose power.....but even for the problem i still notice better high end power i figure i have the cams retared and they say when cams are retarted u get power but later in the power band.....and like bullit said i threw the code.....so wish me luck thanks guys.......

ok so i just spent the last 6 hours trying to degree the cams with no luck can someone tell me why is it so "F"ing hard i am 4 degrees off!!! the ****ing cams are retarted 4 degrees and i cant fix it if i move it a tooth advance the valve then open 15-17 degrees before TDC...is there a margin of error fords timing??becuz in the books they make it seem so easy......plz help!!!!!! 911

The stock cams gears are not adjustable but some guys do light grinding on the key ways to get some adjustment. I am not one of those guys! I spent the $250 for the Fidanza adjustable cam gears.
