You won't get a huge braking gain by switching to Cobra brakes. On 99-04 the GT's come with 2 piston PBR front calipers just like the Cobra. The only real difference is the bigger rotors. The rear brakes are the same on V6/GT/Cobra with the cobra getting a better slightly bigger rotor.

im startin to think ill just go with some new pads and rotors...i do like the look of the cobra rotors though. oh well, im always gonna need brakes again sometime. thanks for the help everyone!

The the kit that he pointed out says that the calipers are 4 piston. I know that the ones Ford sells are 2 piston and the 2 piston kit is on Summit for 100 bucks more. Do you think this is a typo or just roll with it and get the 4 piston calipers. Im looking to upgrade too.

It's been said before that no they will not fit under a 16" wheel.

They barely fit under the 17" wheel. Here's a picture I took right after I did the swap. Very little clearance... but looks damn good.
