Default Just test drove a cobra..

So i just went out and test drove a 96 cobra...

it has "90K miles on it" and a new clutch an rebuilt tranny.

It has a small ding on the side and theres some paint chipped off on the fog lights but other than that it seemed ok.

The odometer stopped working at 89515 miles....so I'm sure its an easy fix, but I dont know if 90K is the actual mileage. (Carfax hasn't reported any error so it can't be too far off)

I know stock these things have 305 hp and 300ft/lbs but it honestly didn't seem as strong as i thought it would...This was the first time i've ever driven a model like this, and i was expecting more. I drove a notch the other day with a CAI, full exhaust, U/D Pulleys, 3.73s, and short throw shifter, and it seemed like it woudl utterly destroy this cobra.

What would be a good offer to give this guy, if you even think its worth pursuing...I mean a cobra with 90K miles for $7500 is a very rare offer around here.

Let me hear all your experiences with cobras...as far as reliability, good performance mods, and all that

Thanks a bunch

I wouldn't buy a car with over 90K miles on it, especially if the odometer is broken. I think Carfax only reports mileage stats whenever the car is registered or sold.

If the drive didn't impress you, then I wouldn't bother with it.

The drive was good, i'm not saying it wasn't powerful, just it seems like my dads 2003 honda 4 cylinder could keep up with it lol

i own a 96' cobra, the odometer broke, you can get the whole cluster with the miles on from ford for around $700, or you can get one off of ebay. Your call.
