Default Beginner modding. what do you think?

Wassup ya'all!

I recently just asked another member in a PM, this list of questions. he just so happens to live in my same city and it appears has done quite a bit to his car already so I thought I would seek out his advice, now I wanna know what you all think. my car is stock as a rock. and so is my knowledge in modding cars. so this is where you all come in.

since I obvioulsy haven't done any mods yet, I am gonna start with the exhaust, just cuase I love the sound and performance gains that comes with it. for now keep the headers, and mid pipe stock,I wanna know if you thought that borla is worthe the money, and if it's not is Flowmaster American Thunder series an allright buy for the money, I also found a mac exhaust for the same price as flowmaster, is mac better/worse then flowmaster, and how do they rate compaired to others outt here in the 500+ price range, such as borla and bassani.

next question. is the comp chip a descent place to start with mods, I plan to start on the low easy end and see where it goes. like CAI, and then from there add a Throttlebody/plenum. but is the comp good before or after those mods, and what is worthe doing the most?

Any other advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would go with a full bassani exhaust...mid length's, x, c-back(bx line is cheaper too), 4:30's/(tires), sct, and later on stage 2 cams(comp or vt). You should have a very low 13 sec or a high 12 car...oh yeah, a better shifter, mgw, steeda, pro 5.0 to name a few. You can save the tune until u get serious mods like p&p heads or cams.

Thats all great for the future, but what would you do first and foremost, if lets say you only had 1 grand max to spend in the next six months and then then had to save your money up for it all. cause in my possition it's gonna be a hobby that comes slowly, somethin I gotta play with over time.

For 1k I would do x/c-back and gears. Worth about .4-.6 gain in the 1/4.

I say if you have 1 grand, save it. I've put over that in my car and its still slow!!! Save up and buy a super charger. Then when you add the exhaust you will notice some decent gains on the dyno. jmo

Gears should absolutley be first, use whatever is left to get whatever you want. You wont be able to afford anything huge, maybe a catback or a short sifter & cai.

don't waste your money on a cai, they are absolutely useless (I know I have one). For your first mod I would either do a catback (for sound), or gears (performance).

before making it faster, make it handle better! Sub-frame connectors and aftermarket rear control arms are always my first 2 mods to ANY 79+ Mustang

improved handling is boring? tell that to Maximum Motorsports! they took a stock 5.0 with about 200,000 miles on it and made it run through a Road and Track slolum faster than any other Mustang, including Saleen....yeah, that's boring
