Need an alignment...
Went to the dealer to get an alignment on my 02 and they said it would either be $79 for a basic alignment or $189 if they had to mess with the caster and camber.
Is there something extra that has to be done or a part that is needed to make those djustments? I know when I did my Ranger I had to buy some adjuster nuts for the I-beams, but they weren't that expensive.
Thanks

dude , an alignment costs 50 damn bucks, what the hell is this 189 crap im hearing, take it somewhere else, thats unheard of. 189, makes me sick, damn dealerships, and what is the diff between a regular alignment and one where u mess with caster and camber, what an alignment is , is messing with the caster .camber and toe, i dont know what this dealership is up to my man, but dont go there. if messing with the caster and camber is a more than basic, than the basic must be lifting it up on the rack, not doing anything, and taking it back down.

Where are you from and what grade are you in there GT99GT? The only time you need to adjust the caster or camber is if you have lowered it and that threw it off a little or it you ran off the road and hit some MAJOR curbs or ditches. Its pretty hard to throw off the caster or camber. 99% of the time all they adjust is the Toe which consists of adjusting the tie rod. Thats all. You shouldnt need any camber or caster plates because they can adjust the caster and camber at the top of the strut tower. Trust me, you probably wont need any caster or camber done to it!

Don't worry I didn't leave the car with them. The only reason I went to that dealer was because thats were the car was bought and I thought they might give me some slack on the warrenty since it only has 20k miles on it.
I went to the dealer I used to work at after I left that one and got an apointment for Fri. for like $55 I think.
When I worked at the dealer I didn't do any front end work and it was a Lincoln/Mercury store so not many Mustangs came in.
Thanks for the help guys.

RE: Need an alignment...
Its a pretty easy and quick job. Hell you could do it your self with a peice of string. Since you have a solid axle like GT99GT said so your rear wheels are always straight. Take a long peice of thin string and wrap it around all four tires and tie it off in the front of the car. Make sure your front wheels are perfectly straight and look at the rope around the tires. If it isnt touching or if it is being pushed out then you need to make adjustments to the tie rods depending on the way the rope is positioned. Thats the best way to do it if you are mechanically inclined. If not go spend your cash and have it done right.

lol what does where im from or what grade im in have to do with any of this? i dont know but some of the cars ive dealt with, even without caster / camber plates, have needed to have the caster and camber screwed with... i guess sometimes it only has to do with toe, but if thats the case, they should charge you 30 dollars, i think if u were going to get one thing out of my reply, its that you are paying way to much, thats it really
