Default Ball Joints need replacing

The ford tech says it will cost $700 for the lower ball joints + wheel alignment...

Does this sound like a lot to you? Could I not just buy new control arms with the ball joint myself off the internet and then pay a mechanic to install them?

is there a good site where I can buy OEM parts and not get ripped off?

Get the GT-500 front control arms they have a heavier duty ball joint and high durometer bushings. Part number M-3075-E

How did you find out they need to be replaced? Did they make any strange sound or something? How many miles on a car...? I'm aksing because I have 90000 miles on my car, highway mostly, but wonder how much longer will the suspension last...

Well I get a Clunking noise from the front end when I go over a speed bump sometimes....

Also I just got new tires put on and the mechanic said there was "Play" in the joints....

I assume for now if I dont replace them that it will just cause uneven wear in the tires but if they were to give out then I could lose control and at highway speeds that would be a bad thing....

Average price would be two hours labor and I would do an alignment just to make sure everything is good to go.

Wheel alignment.
Thats a good one.
According to the Ford Workshop Manual, the caster and camber
are non-adjustable. And the toe would not change from just a
simple ball joint repacement job.

while I appreciate the advice I don't appreciate your attitude. Take it somewhere else if you want to be a dick, but again, thanks for the advice.
