I ordered a shifter yesterday and plan to do it myself for the first time. I've been told it's not too difficult. I have asked a couple of shops how much they would charge though before I decided to do it myself and I was told anywhere from $30-40.

Not a short throw shifter I think he means a shift kit for an auto.

you could do it yourself too if you really wanted too. i think its just a matter of taking the pan then the valve body off. then switching around the ***** and putting on a new gasket. i think the transgo makes a do it yourself one that comes with a video

Oops lol. Sorry (still a noob). Anything that requires jack stands and the tranny is a PITA for me.[8D]

If you are going to do the installation yourself pay attention to detail, especially during the steps of replacing or adding the ball bearings and drilling can be a little tricky. PAY ATTENTION.
Now if you are going to take it to a repudiable tranny shop, you are going to pay from 200-350.00 dollars be prepared.
I have one and sure does make a difference, especially if you have gears. Good luck and keep us posted.

its a pretty easy and straightforward job, just dont drop the bearings or drill in the wrong spot
